Built in 2004, SEA PEARL, began life as AMBROSIANA and has carried many names, one of the most notable was ALFA FOUR. She is distinctive in many ways, not the least of which is the fact that one of her owners presented Oceanco with a very challenging change order. Her owner wanted her to be ready in time for the Athens Olympics—a deadline Oceanco was on track to accomplish. Eight weeks prior to launch, however, he decided to change her hull colour from white to blue. Since changing the date of the Olympics was not an option, the yard had to shift into overdrive to make the deadline.

Then several years later, in 2012, SEA PEARL underwent a major refit with her new owner. She came back to Oceanco to overhaul many of the machinery systems, upgrade the bridge, and install a complete new entertainment system, which required new cables throughout the yacht. Also a major part of the interior had to be removed and refurbished. Oceanco completed this extensive punch list in only 98 days.

SEA PEARL can comfortably accommodate up to 12 persons in a VIP, four double cabins and a stunning master suite. The duplex master suite, forward on the main deck, includes a private panoramic lounge. Remaining accommodations are on the lower deck. A large swimming pool and gym are located forward on the flybridge deck. A touch-and-go helipad on the aft sky lounge deck ensures exclusive and private boarding and doubles as a sunbathing area.

Her twin 1,650hp (1,231kW) Caterpillar diesels propel her to a maximum speed of 15.5 knots, and at a cruising speed of approximately 12 knots, this transatlantic yacht can achieve a range of 6,000 nautical miles.

Black Pearl - 2018 1
Black Pearl - 2018 2

The three-masted sailing yacht Black Pearl is unlike any yacht the world has ever seen. This unique and complex vessel is the realization of a discerning Owner’s vision. She is the result of an elaborate and successful collaboration on the part of an international group of designers, engineers, naval architects, builders, and project managers. The designers Ken Freivokh Design, Nuvolari Lenard and Villate Design all played a significant role in Black Pearl’s design evolution. Dykstra Naval Architects designed Black Pearl’s three 70 meter (230ft) DynaRig carbon masts and sailing system. The sail area is subdivided into smaller lesser-loaded sails and they can be set or furled by pushing a button. Astonishingly, all 2,900 square meter of sails can be set in 7 minutes.BMT, Nigel Gee collaborated with Oceanco to create Black Pearl’s hybrid propulsion system as well as other onboard systems such as waste heat recovery.

Not only does she have a particularly striking exterior profile created by Lobanov Design, and a distinguished interior by Sorgiovanni Designs, but also she is the largest yacht ever built at Oceanco and has the distinction of being the largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands. Displacing over 4,500 Gross Tons, with 16.4m/54ft beam, this formidable yacht still manages to maintain a very noble and original profile from bow to stern. Her progressively longer horizontal blue lines make JUBILEE truly distinctive from all other yachts. Built to the Passenger Yacht Code, her Sam Sorgiovanni designed interior is both spacious and rich, offering accommodation for up to 30 guests in 15 staterooms including an entirely private owner’s deck.
