OCEANCO’S SALES DEPARTMENT
Expanding its footprint in the worldwide yacht market, Oceanco names Bas Swanink as Sales Manager at Oceanco.
Oceanco is expanding its sales department. Bas Swanink has recently been named Sales Manager at Oceanco and will be working in tandem with Robert Tan. Swanink is no stranger to Oceanco; he has been with the company as a Project Manager for eight years, during which time he was a key figure in developing and engineering the industry’s first PYC-compliant yacht ever built, the 91.5-meter Equanimity. In the process, he and his team worked closely with Lloyds Register, Cayman Islands Shipping Registry and several yachting industry partners.
Prior to his tenure with Oceanco, Swanink was employed in the superyacht industry for nearly 10 years in various management positions: design, project management and after sales management. In the span of his career he has project managed and delivered eight custom superyachts from 50-meters to 92-meters in length. He has worked with clients from around the world, including the USA, Middle East, Eastern Europe and Asia. In his new role he will continue to work closely with Clients, Representatives, Captains, Crew and Brokers.
Swanink, along with Tan, will be representing Oceanco at the major boat shows and yachting events beginning with the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show. Swanink has a degree in Shipbuilding Technology, is a veteran team player and is looking forward to expanding his role and the role of Oceanco in the international marketplace.

OCEANCO’S MARKETING DEPARTMENT
Oceanco -world leading builder of large custom superyachts - has promoted Paris Baloumis to the position of Group Marketing Manager.
Baloumis, equipped with a Masters of Science in Business Administration from the University of Erasmus in Rotterdam, began his professional career as a management trainee with Oceanco in 2006. He has since held various positions at Oceanco. Prior to being named Group Marketing Manager, he had the dual responsibility of being Relations Manager of Oceanco’s Fleet - liaising with the captains and crew of all the yachts ever built by Oceanco - as well as being Public Relations Manager - communicating with international stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
Baloumis will be based in Monaco, in the heart of the luxury yachting capital - where Oceanco has long maintained its Marketing, Sales and Design office. He will continue working closely with Marketing Manager Michele Flandin and Marketing & Public Relations Associate Iris Bosschaart.
Baloumis’s nearly 10 years of experience at Oceanco has provided him with a clear insight into the company’s DNA. Having been involved from when Oceanco started focusing solely on building its next generation of yachts, Baloumis is exceptionally well positioned to lead Oceanco’s future marketing and branding.

OCEANCO WELCOMES YOUNG DESIGNERS

OCEANCO HOSTS SIX FINALISTS IN THE YOUNG DESIGNER OF THE YEAR AWARD MAY 27-28, 2015
Oceanco is once again proudly sponsoring the annual “Young Designer of the Year" Award.
Six of the seven finalists in the ShowBoats Design Awards competition — Timur Bozca, Jake Edens, Isik Goren, Ben Hills, Harun Kemali and Antonella Scarfiello — arrived in Amsterdam the evening of May 27 and were accompanied to a welcome dinner by Oceanco's Marketing and Sales Department. After a vibrant evening out in the city centre the group over-nighted in Amsterdam. Early the next morning they were whisked away to tour Oceanco’s facilities.
At Oceanco, the aspiring designers met with members of Oceanco’s Sales and Design Departments to witness how things work at Oceanco. At the same time they received constructive comments and insight regarding their individual ‘concept’ presentations. Oceanco also shared real life examples of Oceanco designs and innovations. Next, was an educational tour through the yard and the new dry dock facilities. The group was then shuttled by water taxi to Rotterdam, passing by and catching a glimpse of the recently launched 86m sailing yacht, built collaboratively by Oceanco and Vitters. Over lunch at Hotel New York, an historic landmark building that used to be the headquarters of the Holland America Line, the Oceanco team members and the talented designers continued a lively dialogue about what it takes to be a superyacht designer.
The "Young Designer of the Year Award" presented by Boat International Media at an annual awards gala the 23rd of February in Kitzbühel, Austria celebrates the best superyacht design from student and trainee designers under the age of 26. The contestants must submit a design that relates to a realistic client request. They are encouraged to exhibit detailed technical and design skills. The entries are judged by a group of international superyacht designers. This year the Young Designers were asked to design concept for a 55-metre sailing yacht.
In sponsoring and supporting the “Young Designer of the Year Award,” Oceanco hopes to encourage fresh new talent to join the superyacht industry. Oceanco’s is continuously exploring new approaches to design and technology. Perhaps one day, one of these new young designers will be helping to create the next generation Oceanco yacht.

Oceanco and Vitters Shipyard launch Project 85

May 06 2015Administrator

Oceanco and Vitters Shipyard are pleased to announce the launch of an 85-meter Tripp Design Luxury Sailing yacht. This project is the outcome of a remarkable co-operation between Vitters Shipyard and Oceanco, where both partners combined their respective expertise. This novel approach to building is as unique as the yacht itself.

Oceanco and Vitters Shipyard worked closely through all stages of this custom project. During the Design Engineering Study, the Specification was defined by the yards’ teams, in close cooperation with the Naval Architect, the Owners and their representatives, Master Yachts.

The yacht’s complexity lies in her sheer size as well as in the qualities that make her a real performance sailing yacht. Oceanco’s innovations and experience in building large custom power yachts in 80m+ range, and Vitters Shipyard’s vast experience in building large, high performance sailing yachts was the driving force in teaming up to manage such a complex project. Capitalizing on each other’s strengths, the teams broke boundaries with not only the size, but also the complexity, of an extensive array of advanced systems.

Built under the project name P85, with Owners Representatives Master Yachts, Naval Architect Tripp Design and Interior Designers Dölker + Voges, this extraordinary sailing super yacht combines outstanding sailing performance, state-of-the-art technology and reliability, with exceptional space, comfort and luxury – a combination rarely found on sailing yachts.

The design and execution of all components of this 85-metre yacht ensure that guests and crew alike will sail in safety and comfort. Given her design characteristics, she will be as nimble and as easy to handle as a yacht of smaller dimensions, proving that a super sailing yacht can have competitive sailing capabilities with relative ease of handling. As can be expected from both naval architect and builders, this is a true sailing yacht, performing well at all points of sail and benefitting from exhaustive engineering and superior craftsmanship.

The yacht has a clean, high-volume superstructure designed to blur the boundaries between inside social spaces and outside deck areas, with long, clear sightlines throughout. The yacht is designed around a comfortably clear and modern interior that adorns four decks of common as well as discrete living areas, for both social and private use.

The unique steering system, developed by Vitters Shipyard, completes the ultimate sailing experience. By translating the hydrodynamic forces on the underwater rudder blades directly to the Fly Bridge steering wheels, this steering system provides the helmsman with immediate feedback, a feeling for the yacht.

This groundbreaking sailing yacht pioneers new territory on many fronts. She will be an astonishing sight to behold as she sails the world’s oceans.

Achieving Equanimity

Jun 12 2014Administrator

The etymology of the word equanimity derives from the Latin aequus meaning balanced and animus meaning spirit or internal state. The concept of equanimity—internal balance— is both profound and refined. Oceanco’s newly delivered 91.5‐metre Equanimity is aptly named; from her exterior to her interior to her inner core, she is perfectly well balanced.

Equanimity (Y709) has the distinction of being the industry’s first superyacht designed and built to be fully Passenger Yacht Code (PYC) compliant. Oceanco CEO, Marcel Onkenhout, says, “We designed, developed, engineered and built a magnificent yacht, which will undoubtedly set new standards in the industry.”

The owners look forward to extensive world travel aboard their distinctive luxury vessel. Measuring 91.5 metres in length with a 14.5‐metre beam, her chic clean exterior styling is the combined work of Oceanco and Andrew Winch Designs. The breathtakingly beautiful interior has also benefitted from the quintessential touch of designer Andrew Winch. The inherent oriental‐inspired themes yield a montage of sumptuous materials creating a soothing ambiance. Equanimity provides luxury accommodation for 26 guests in a variety of flexibly configured rooms. She has ample accommodation for 28 crew to cater to all the owners’ and guests’ desires.

Equanimity hosts two Zodiac Fast Rescue Ribs and two 10.5‐metre custom Hodgdon tenders. Providing a new benchmark in superyacht‐based aviation, the upper deck boasts a fully certified helipad in accordance with CAP437 regulations as adapted for the PYC.

Equanimity is steel hulled with an aluminium superstructure and is propelled by twin 4,828hp/3,600kW MTU 20V 4000 M73L engines, enabling her to achieve top speeds in excess of 20 knots.
